About Me
Hi, I’m Christin. Founder and operator of Être.
I’m a Kansas City native. Thrifted style and décor enthusiast. Nature lover. Mother of two. Aficionado of anything arts and music. Sensitive soul and mindfulness practitioner.
I have benefited from counseling at many points in my life and am a firm believer in the healing nature of the counseling process. I have spent 14+ years working in community mental health facilities doing case management, assessment, and mental health / substance abuse counseling. I decided to start Être so I could focus solely the intricacies of counseling work, which is what I’m really passionate about.

What is ‘Être’?
‘Être’ (pronounced: eh-truh) is the French word for the English phrase “to be.” Some additional meanings are “to have or occupy space,” “to have identity with,” and “to remain undisrupted or undisturbed.” I think “Être” is perfectly suited for this counseling practice because I believe it's the exact state that we are striving for when faced with difficult experiences and emotions. We want to allow ourselves to take up space in the world, and we want to maintain our sense of identity while remaining undisrupted and undisturbed. We are seeking to find a way to be with difficult experiences and emotions long enough that we can learn the lessons that they have to teach us about ourselves and about the situations that led to their arising. Only then, can we move calmly and with ease as we go about our lives.
